It can be frustrating and confusing when you’re going on a lot of dates with women but things never make it past there. Meeting new women all the time can be fun, but it’s no fun when they don’t want to see you again.

Even if you think you did an awesome job, were charming, and looked good, there is obviously something you’re doing wrong. If days pass by and no one returns your calls, then it’s obvious you’re doing something wrong. Today, our Pittsburgh matchmakers will show you where things could be going wrong and why you’re not getting second dates with women.

1. You were being too serious.

Are you the type of person who takes everything too seriously? If you’re asking her questions that make the date feel like a job interview, then you’re being too serious. Are you firing off boring questions like it was a business interview? Then this is your mistake. She thinks you’re being too serious and doesn’t want to go out with you again.

Want the solution? Smile, be more relaxed, and switch your focus to having fun. Stop bombarding her with questions and just let the date flow and have a good time. Crack a joke here and there, tell her a funny story, smile and make her feel relaxed.  Ask her what she likes about her job, what she does for fun, and where she has traveled. You need to keep the questions light and fun by revolving them around interesting things, things she’ll be excited to open up about with you.

2. You didn’t offer to pay the bill.

Come on now, gentlemen, if you have asked a woman to go on a date with you, it’s your responsibility to pay for the bill. If the bill came out and you didn’t even move a finger, then of course she’s not going to want to go out with you again.

If she offers to pay and is insistent on helping, accept it. But the polite thing to do is to cover the date. Women don’t want to come off like they expect you to pay for everything, but if you asked her out, it’s your job as a gentlemen.

3. You were rude to the restaurant staff.

Did you send your meal back several times? Did you roll your eyes at the waitress because she brought you the wrong drink? Did you leave the restaurant without leaving a tip? Did you put down the restaurant in general? Did you snap your fingers at the waiter because he didn’t come quickly enough? Then it’s no wonder she doesn’t want to go out with you again.

Want to fix this? You shouldn’t just be nice to her; after all, she is watching your every move, which includes the way you treat the restaurant staff. Women are very turned off by rude men who treat others poorly. Smile, say please and thank you, and never put anyone down. You can even strike up a conversation with the waiter/waitress by asking them about the best dish in the house or if they recommend a special drink. Also, make sure you leave an appropriate tip.

4. You were too touchy-feely.

You showed up to the first date with a dozen roses. You told her that she was the one, even though you just met her. You moved your chair closer to her so you could hold her hand. In other words, you were too touchy-feely and came off as desperate.

Even if you think she is the one, don’t be overly touchy-feely or expressive with your feelings because you will scare her away. She could be into you, but you’ll ruin the moment if you are too touchy-feely. There is nothing that scares women away faster than a man who pours his heart out on the first date. Our Pittsburgh matchmakers know it sends out signals of desperation. If you haven’t had much luck on your dating journey, as far as going out on second dates, this is why. Our matchmakers encourage you to keep things light and fun. There will be plenty of opportunities to express your feelings down the road, but the first date isn’t the time.

5. You didn’t open up enough.

Not only did you not ask enough about her, but you didn’t share anything about yourself. How can you expect her to get to know you if you don’t talk about yourself? Women find it very attractive when a man opens up. Why? Because it shows confidence, which is one of the most important things women look for in a man. Speak up and ask her questions, share some of your life experiences, and take charge of the date. Are you more of a shy guy? Then you need to fake it until you make it. Our Pittsburgh matchmakers want you to be decisive and speak up. And don’t worry if you say the wrong thing—it’s better than not saying anything at all. Everyone has first date jitters, so don’t dwell on it too much.

6. You talk about politics the entire date.

With the presidential elections right around the corner, Donald Trump and Hillary are on everyone’s minds. However, discussing politics on a first date is a big no-no. We advise you not to bring up politics or religion. There are many things to talk about besides politics, so keep the conversation lighthearted for now.

A few other things to help you become more successful on your first dates include, always letting her order first, not talking about yourself the entire date, showing up on time, and dressing the part. Hopefully, these helpful tips from our Pittsburgh matchmakers will aid you on your search for love and make you more successful with women.
